I was good friends with the band Japan in 78/79. Saw them most days when they were around London. David had a flat just off Sloane Square. Spent many evenings around there. All good blokes, got on best with Steve and Mick. David could be a bit introspective but mainly we had a laugh. They used to get sacks full of mail from Japanese girls sending gifts & tapes offering themselves to them. They gave me gifts they didn't want, never got a girl.

On the tube on way back from a defeat against Middlesbrough me and a few mates bumped into Frank Dobson. He’d just lost the London Mayor election to Livingstone. Some jovial chanting of ‘loser’ and he stood up, did the ‘calm down’ gesture and said ‘we’re all losers today boys’, big grin on his face and a chuckle as he said it. Had a good chat with him, really down to earth and a nice guy.

Also had a few nights out with Dan Luger when visiting uni friends. Before he was famous but has just signed some sort of pre contract with Richmond. Absolute tosser, completely arrogant and only really interested in fighting anyone that came near him. I remember it took about 4 of us to hold him back from starting on someone who hadn’t really done anything wrong.

Prince Philip was a good bloke. Was meant to be meeting advertising execs but instead got a beer and made a beeline for a group of secretaries. Stood chatting & laughing with them. Drove a black cab!

NS - one 80s Essex player that it looks like you missed out on was Stuart Turner. He coached my school team at the Gants Hill Cricket School. Completely took the fun out of playing the game and we all hated him.

Other wanker cricketers include Andy Simmons and Andy Bichel who I met the day after they won the 2003 world cup. Miserable cunts.

Nice cricketers I've met include Gooch, Fraser, Tendulkar, Yuvraj, Harbhajan, Dev, Gavaskar

Also sat on a 12 hour flight next to Jimmy White who was very pleasant.

Lanzini did his knee rehab at my gym and took time out to have a chat with me one day.

Lomas was in front of me at the dry cleaners one (they lost one of his jackets) so we had a brief chat whilst he was waiting.

Met Cat Deeley in NY about 20 years ago. She was lovely

Might surprise a lot of you but went to school with Jamie Oliver and he is actually a lovely bloke, still looks out for his school mates and hasnt really changed if you see him out and about. Went out with his missus in primary school.

At the other end of the scale John Savident who used to play Fred Elliot in Corry, moved in opposite me and was an absolute cunt of a man. So far up his own arse he was wearing himself as a hat.

Weird one was having Andy Johnson (and his kid) behind us in a queue for Popcorn at Walt Disney World.... a few weeks before it was his goal that defeated us at Cardiff...

Sam Fox... asked her out down the Pink Toothbrush when she was promoting her single Touch Me... I think she turned me down as didn't fancy a pillion ride home to North London on the back of a SX Lambretta... she was a real good laugh and I don't think I was the one that turner her a lezza??

Melinda Messenger... lovely... never asked her out...

Ross Kemp... pissed out of his head down Churchills in Southend (was doing teh panto at the Cliffs pav) ... took offence at me as I said I was more Cockney than his character in Eastenders... bit of a set to but soon sorted out between us... he was later chucked out a few hours later for having wandering hands with the ladies...

Met shit loads of footballers, west ham players... met Mooro twice... once in his old sports shop down Barking Road (Dad took us in to get a claret tracksuit for my birthday)... Mooro was in there ... having a good chat with my Dad who he knew through my Mum (Mr and Mrs Moore... Bobby's parents used to babysit my Mum and Uncle when they was young) ... anyway he chucked in a couple of sew of West Ham badges for free which was nice of him... the other time was popping over to Southechurch to watch SUFC train when he was managing them... signed a few things... had a lovely jag' what I remember...

Lennox Lewis at a book signing... enormous hands

Shaq O'Nealle.... handing out balloons to kids in Florida... biggest unit I have ever seen...

Loads of England Rugby players.... most approachable... Richard Hill, Victor Ubogu, Will Greenwood... and my two personal favs Loz Dallaglio (apart from his a big Middlesex CC fan) and Jase Leonard... absolute legend... met him a few times at Richmond and around Rochford believe it or not (frequents the Miley pub).

Loads of Cricketers... played with or against Allan Lamb, Graham Gooch, Ken McKewan, Courtney Walsh, Greg Thomas, John Lever, Neil Foster, Eldine Baptiste, Ray East, Graeme Roope, Wayne Larkins, Mark Greatbatch... all great sociable blokes... in fact the only cunt I can think of was David Ackfield... absolute WANKER

Phil Jupitus and Billy Bragg at a service station on way back from Cardiff after the Palace playoff final.

Between my mate and them two, none of us could barely put two words together - all utterly gutted. Eventually got chatting to them for about half an hour and genuine decent blokes and obviously mad West Ham - and it showed.

Bumped into him a few times walking the dog (he has got a Spaniel IIRC)... started with my missus saying `Oooh it's you in it'?? To which he replied `Yes it's me'... few times I met him since he's brought up my idiot wife!! Real nice fella.. had a few long chats on teh way round Belfairs woods yapping about football and the old local mod scene round here...

Was on hols in Formentera during Italia 90. Robert Plant turned up at the hotel one day and I spent an evening with him in the bar drinking and watching England on the box. He's a Wolves fan and was puffed up that Steve Bull was playing. Good bloke who was happy to chat and got the bar tab at the end of the evening despite the fact I spent the whole time kidding on I thought he was Noddy Holder.

Re: Celebs you’ve met that are..
Have met quite a few West Ham players over the years and have got to say that there's not been a bad one amongst them... perhaps with one exception.
Alan Devonshire , Phil Parkes , Tony Cottee .... all terrific lads who love the club and what we used to stand for ... one of my customers used to have a box at UP and Devo and Parkes often came in and sat for ages telling stories , Dev in particular was very engaging with the punters and used to tell us how he'd have done a better job as West Ham manager than the likes of Zola and Grant who were the managers around that time ....Sir Trev and Bonzo absolute gentlemen , as were Martin Peters and Geoff Hurst on multiple occasions that I met them ...Peters in particular made a big effort to talk to my kid for ages offering tips on timing his runs into the box. Old school gents ,polite and both very humble considering their career achievements .
I did meet Frankie Mac once in the bogs at TOTS in Southend though the conversation was cut short when he disappeared into the cubicle to have a quick snort of something .... nice fella but mentalist. The two that I've met a few times that are genuine guys who will talk to anyone about West Ham and football are Tony Gale and Snoddy .... really friendly , no airs and graces and both very funny in different ways. Tony Gale loves the club. Carlton Cole too , very nice fella.
The one West Ham player that I really didn't take to at all was Nigel Reo Coker when he was club captain. My daughter used to insist on waiting in the car park after matches to see the players and I watched him two or three times walk straight past kids queuing for autographs without a second glance . One night I was in the Funky Buddha club in Mayfair as one of our mates used to promote a club night there and knew loads of the London footballers at that time as it was a big footballers haunt .. A mixed group of West Ham and Spurs players came into his VIP area ...Zamora , Sheringham ,Etherington , Rob Green , Marlon Harewood , Carlton , Ledley King , Jamie O Hara etc..party boys. Most of them were friendly and ok with everyone but my mate had said beforehand that he wasnt keen on Reo Coker who he found arrogant . And true to form NRC acted the knob , very flash and up himself and basically had an air about him like he was some kind of big deal . Glad to say that he never did anything of note after he left West Ham .

Met Liam Gallagher a couple of times in the boozer, top bloke. One night spent a couple of hours drinking with him. He had all the time in the world for us, (City had just signed Bellamy) great night. Noel on the other hand was a bit of jumped up little prick

Had a piss next to Jack Collison in the faces nightclub toilets a few years ago.

Absolute top man, happy to chat and we had a big relegation game coming up and he was saying how nervous he was.

We had a couple of beers with him as was my brothers birthday.
